Zechariah the priest has his big opportunity when he is chosen by lot to do the offering of incense in the temple at the evening service, he is met by the angel Gabriel with the announcement of the coming of John the Baptist and yet he does not believe it …

Luke 9:10-17; Matthew 14:11-36; Mark 6:30-56; John 6:1-24
Luke's Gospel - Good news for all people
The feeding of the 5,000 miracle is in all four gospels - which certainly says something. It is twinned with the miracle of Jesus walking on the water because it says the disciples had not learned the lesson of the loaves. This lesson is to do with learning our limits, facing up to failure and recognising the complete sufficiency of Jesus. The second miracle story helps to interpret the meaning of the first miracle story.

This is a miracle and an acted parable to show that people come to true saving faith by multiple touches of God.

In this event Jesus shows His full glory and marries together suffering and glory that belong and must be kept together if the disciples are to be able to practically cope with suffering.

The Priority (persistence in praying - the friend at midnight parable) 3. The Promise (how much more does God give good things to his children)
